Trials and Temptations
Everywhere you turn, someone’s telling you how to live. A lot of times it's well-intentioned and almost true, but misses the mark in ways that can hurt us. The purpose of the letter of James, is to help people handle hard times. In hard times, people begin believing the wrong things about themselves, their circumstances, other people, and God. They are tempted to do things they might not normally do in order to stay safe, fit in, and get by. James gives practical ways how Jesus followers can live faithfully.
Hearers that Do & Faith that Acts

The purpose of the letter of James, is to help people who follow Jesus to know what that looks like. It’s all very practical. In this week’s message we will take a good look a Christian tendency to have an easy kind of faith, one that doesn’t really live out their faith as God would have them. Join us to find out what James says about faith and works and how we can depend on the Holy Spirit to live faithfully in this world of ours.
Favortism, Teachers and the Tongue
As we continue our study of the letter of James this week, we’ll explore three important topics: favoritism, teaching God’s Word, and the power of the tongue. James reminds us that showing partiality undermines our faith, and he emphasizes that the tongue is a powerful tool—especially for those who teach. He challenges us to control our words rather than be controlled by them. Join us for worship and discover the wisdom of James, often called “the wise one,” as we learn and grow together!
Wisdon & Harmony
Know anybody who doesn’t experience quarrels and fights? Married couples are all too familiar with these. So are siblings…as well as parents and children. And then there are wars and rumors of wars. James tells why we have these quarrels and wars, and what we can do about it. Are you presently in an quarreling relationship? You won’t want to miss this message as we talk about God’s wisdom, hostility and harmony.
Wealth Costs
In America, we are blessed with many privileges and great wealth. While wealth itself is not inherently wrong, it comes with significant challenges. In this week’s passage, James highlights two key pitfalls of wealth—warnings that should prompt us to rethink our perspective and use of it.
Patience & Perseverance
The great future hope for a Christian is the personal return of Jesus Christ in power and glory. But until that time, we wait….and wait, and continue to wait. With the suffering that can come in life during that time of waiting, we needs James’ wisdom on how to deal with that double burden. And James gives two answers: patience and perseverance.
Healing & Restoring
As we finish our series in the Letter of James, calls the church to mutual care, mutual concern, and mutual compassion. He wants Christians to support one another, pray for healing, and go after others who have wandered away from the truth.
